Halal slaughter and source verification
Camel meat is a rare product on the Azerbaijani market — only a very limited number of suppliers perform halal camel slaughter. That is why the most important question for the consumer is where the meat comes from. This page explains how the slaughter is performed and how the source is verified.
What is halal slaughter?
Halal slaughter means the animal is slaughtered according to Islamic rules. The key requirements: the animal must be healthy, the slaughter is performed with a sharp instrument while pronouncing the name of God, with minimal suffering, and the blood is fully drained. For camels the nahr method is applied — a specific rule for camel slaughter.
How is the source verified?
Restaurants on our platform source camel meat from a verified halal slaughter supplier. Verification is based on:
- Slaughter performed according to halal rules
- Known origin and health of the animal
- A documented supply chain — which restaurant has been supplied and since when
Why does it matter?
There are open questions on the market about the authenticity of camel meat — Azerbaijan has no large-scale camel farms, and the volumes offered do not always match real supply capacity. We answer this with transparency: every restaurant on our map sources camel meat from a verified supplier. At venues not listed here, we recommend asking about the origin of the meat.
